Tango Tango originated in Argentina in the late 1850s. It was danced mainly by the lower and immigrant class in Buenos Aires. In 1912 Tango took Paris by storm and by 1913 it was being danced across Europe. Tango was the first couples dance using improvisation that Europe had ever seen. The Golden Age of Tango took place in the late 1940's and early 1950's in Buenos Aires.
